I knew the moment this puppy was handed to me that she was my keeper! She had the same gorgeous dark eye “makeup” that her Grandma Pip had, along with the striking red & white coloring—and she had the most perfect long, straight tail that I’d been hoping for!

I owe much gratitude to my good friend Jeanne McClelland for making this special little girl possible. Jeanne had lost her precious Bulldog and ended up buying two girls from a local litter that was sired by my special boy Gabe. She was doing a remodel and asked if I might be willing to keep the girls for a month or two until she had her project completed. I picked Angel and Gabby up from the breeder and proceeded to put them through the Sittingbullies Boot Camp! By the time they were handed off to Jeanne a couple months later, the girls were housebroken, leash trained, and had a good grasp on basic household manners. Jeanne insisted that I be put on the girls’ AKC papers as a co-owner and offered to let me raise a litter from each of the girls. Angel produced a litter of eight, with seven surviving pups and they were all named for British Phrases, such as Hunky-Dory, Tickity Boo, Beez Kneez, and my girl “Just Ducky!”

Ducky was a dream come true, with a sweet, fun-loving temperament, smarts to match her Papa Gabe, and that wonderful little tail that could wag when she approved of something—a rarity in our breed but something I decided I wanted to try and replicate in my lines.

In the summer of 2014 I learned of a national contest called the “Adam’s Smart Pets Contest” through some friends and decided to put together a video of Ducky’s tricks to submit. They were offering a Grand Prize of $15,000 in addition to a Smart Phone, a Trip for Two to San Francisco, and a $500 cash prize for each of the Finalists. Ducky was 14 months old when her video was filmed and with her adorable and talented performance it was no surprise that we were among the finalists flown down to CA for the Awards Ceremony. After my husband and I enjoyed a couple days touring the San Francisco sites we attended the special dinner and were awed to hear the announcement that Ducky was the recipient of the $15,000 Grand Prize! (We actually had our choice between a Smart Car or the cash prize but opted for the money) Ducky’s photo was displayed on a billboard in Times Square announcing her victory, as well as highlighted in Better Homes & Garden, Family Circle & Parents Magazines.

Ducky has been a joy to have as a partner for a wide variety of Performance and Breed endeavors. She was inducted into the BCA Performance Hall of Fame for achieving the highest level of Obedience training, the Utility Dog. She has earned the prestigious Rally Championship, and the Trick Dog Elite Performer. Ducky was a BCA National High in Trial winner (2016), as well as the High Combined & High Triple Q Rally Award winner (2019) along with receiving the first ever Most Versatile Bulldog (since called the Best All-Around Bulldog). In addition she has earned titles in Breed, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Coursing, Carting, Herding Instinct, Therapy, Trick Dog and Civic Activities. And while she didn’t complete her AKC Championship with all of her other activities, she had many wonderful victories in the breed ring including winning Reserve honors at the 2019 BCA Nationals and multiple Specialty Show Major Reserves. Ducky has also had a few gigs behind the movie camera doing commercial work.

ThE DuCKLiNG LiTTeR: Ducky had four beautiful babies sired by Eng Ch Sealaville He’s Tyler on March 14, 2016. One son, Tank, and three daughters, Smooches, Livie & Priscilla. I decided to keep two of the girls from this special breeding. The male, Tank is co-owned by Brenda & Joel Fontanos. Priscilla went to a wonderful pet home.
