MoXiE

Moxie would have been my keeper from Pip’s litter of three, had I not promised my performance friend Bea Page that she could have a nice show and performance girl. At Bea’s request I had the litter evaluated by All-Breed judge Pat Hastings, famous for her puppy evaluations. With two nice girls in the litter I felt my pick was safe, however Pat wasn’t confident that the second girl would have strong enough joints to hold up for an extensive performance career. While Pat loved Moxie and felt she showed incredible potential as a future breed and performance star, her top pick was the only male pup-Gabe–which played a crucial role in my decision to let him stay with me since I had always kept females up to that point.

In the hands of Bea, Moxie blossomed and proceeded to earn a plethora of titles in Advanced Obedience, Rally, Agility, Coursing, Trick Dog and Conformation, including first placements for each leg of her Open and Utility Obedience legs as well as an All-Breed Reserve Best in Show (UKC). Moxie had several firsts in her career including being the first-and only- Bulldog to earn a Versatility Title in Obedience and the first Bulldog to earn an AKC Coursing Ability as well as the top level Coursing Ability Excellent title. Moxie and her brother Gabe both earned their CDX Obedience titles on the same day, and both went on to earn the highest level Obedience title–Utility Dog–giving both siblings a place in the BCA Performance Hall of Fame.

Bea had one litter of four puppies out of Moxie and sired by AKC Group-winning CH Cherokee Collins Reiver. Most of the litter continued their mother’s legacy of performance and breed success and Moxie was the foundation for Bea’s Wildwood Bulldog Kennel, including several generations of BCA Performance HOF & Versatile Bulldog Honorees.
