Pickles was from my largest litter ever—ten puppies—born to the girl who had lost her mother delivering nine. Due to how tightly packed this bunch of babies was and all of the adhesions her Mama Besa had from her first litter, it took a while to get all of the puppies out. As a result the entire litter was slightly sedated and didn’t show many signs of life—except for the only brindle girl who was my pick at birth. Fortunately with a bit of TLC from the capable vet Dr. Amanda Wolf and her wonderful crew at Parker Way Vet, all of the puppies revived and came home strong and healthy. The crew came in a variety of classic bulldog colors: Fawn, Reds, Brindles, and Pieds. But my eye went right to the pretty little dark brindle girl—the only one in the litter. I had been hoping to bring some beautiful brindle back into my lines and keep a little girl and I liked what I saw in her right away.
This little girl didn’t disappoint as she matured, displaying the beauty, smarts and temperament I had been hoping for. She loves to learn and made her debut in the Rally Novice ring the day she turned 6 months old at our 2023 Bulldog Club of America National Trial. Pickles handled the noisy, new environment like a pro and brought home a first place medallion and ribbon along with her first RN leg with a wonderful score of 96! Over the next few days this special girl proceeded to earn her CGC, CGCA, CGCU and first three trick dog titles–all within a few days of turning six months old! To top it off she took the fourth place prize for the Best All-Around Bulldog for the week (her mother Besa took the top honors). Before her first birthday she also added her Rally Novice and Parkour Training Level titles!
