SoLO ThE PuPPy PRoDiGY

A few months after losing my special boy Gabe I had a litter of one, born to my girl Livie. The big solid white male pup strongly resembled his Great-Great Grandsire, but I had no intention of keeping another male. The vet dubbed him “Solo” after the section and it stuck.

One day when Solo was just under two weeks old and just peeking out of his newly opened eyes I walked into the room to see him look up at me and wave! That silly little gesture opened my heart to the possibility that this little guy just might need to stick around. Fate was sealed a few weeks later when I brought out the toy piano prop and six week old Solo quickly learned to sit upright and plunk with both paws: our Puppy Prodigy was born! By two months old, Solo was racing outside to potty in the Potty Box, retrieving my shoes on command, sitting up, waving, speaking, doing the Hi-Five and several other skills and tricks in addition to his musical prowess.

When our talented boy was just four and a half months old he was already doing many of Gabe’s classic tricks including flushing the toilet, riding the skateboard and kick scooter and even the beginnings of our most unique and difficult rocking horse trick. It was at this time that Facebook Watch announced a special contest: The World’s Most Amazing Dog offered a prize of $100,000 to the winning entry. I put together a fun video showcasing my talented pup’s tricks and it was quickly listed among the favorites. In March, 2019, my Puppy Prodigy and I were flown down to Hollywood to perform in the WMAD Finals. We had a blast and Solo did me proud placing in the Top Ten among over 3,000 entries from around the globe—and all well before his first birthday!

Solo joined his Grandma Ducky in San Ramon, CA for the 2019 BCA Nationals and came away with High In Trial honors with a lovely score of 191.5 in Novice Obedience. He also placed second behind Ducky in the “Most Versatile Bulldog” competition held throughout the week. Not bad for not even being a year and a half!

While this sassy singleton who is fondly known as our “Loud Mouthed Schnook”, can sport a bit of a ‘tude from time to time, he has done The Sittingbullies Gang proud earning titles in Obedience, Advanced Rally, Coursing, Trick Dog, Breed, Parkour and Barn Hunt.

Solo has sired several litters–including a litter of TEN puppies born a month after his cousin Besa had her litter of the same size! Solo has been producing nice heads and lots of lovely longer, well-set tails which has been a goal in my breeding program. Several of his puppies are in training for various sports and/or breed showing and one- “Milo”- has joined his cousin Walter as part of the Skateboarding K9 team. NOTE: Solo has been retired from making babies due to prostate issues so is no longer available.
