This handsome youngster, owned by Nicole Barton and myself, entered our local Bulldog Club of Greater Seattle and BCA Division V Specialty weekend needing both majors. Rou had been racking up several smaller wins over the previous few months and we were hoping he would at least pick up one of the required major wins during the cluster of six specialty shows. During the second show he did just that! But, he didn’t stop there. Rou came away with not just one–or even two–major wins over the weekend, but THREE which was more than enough to finish up his AKC Championship at just 14 months of age. As icing on the cake he also came away with a nice Best In Sweepstakes win on Saturday.
Pickles had her debut in The Big Dog class–the Best of Breed competition–and while she didn’t earn any Grand Champion points, she made the cut against some very nice competition at two of the shows. Besa teamed up with Nicole’s son, Isiniy, to take Reserve Junior Handler honors two of the three days. And it was a super fun surprise for me to walk away the victor in the first ever “Flamingo Fling” fundraiser. People purchased sets of five rubber flamingos to toss in the center of a large tarp. The person getting closest to the bullseye split the profits with the club. Two of my little birdies landed right on the edge of the mark but shortly after another competitors toss landed slightly inside. I was thinking it was a done deal when one of the final throws helped bump my flamingo squarely into the center, sending me home with a tidy $270 prize!
Pickles also passed her first two OFA Certifications at the clinic on Saturday, as did Rou and his housemate Razzle (a Solo/Besa granddaughter) Razzle also had great success over the weekend picking up both her majors, leaving her just a couple points shy of finishing her championship. Much fun was had by all!
